Join us at Merrylands in June
The next AAN picnic will be 2.00pm – 4.30pm Saturday 26 June at Central Gardens Reserve Merrylands, Cnr Merrylands Rd & Cumberland Highway.
Come along and meet new people and families of mixed backgrounds. Bring some food to share, and enjoy good company. The children will enjoy exploring the animal exhibits in the park and there is plenty of room for bike riding or ball games.

Australian African Network Picnic/BBQ
Australian African Network will holding our May Picnic/BBQ at Johnson Park Dulwhich Hil. Come along and meet new families similar to your own. Enjoy the good company of others. Bring some food to share. Johnson Park is a family friendly Park with, BBQ’S, Playground Equipment, Soccer field, and Basketball courts. There is plenty of room for bike riding or playing a game of ball. If it is raining we shall meet at Ablas Cafe close by – 425 New Canterbury Rd. Dulwich Hill. AAN at African festival
Look out for the AAN stall at the African festival this weekend. We’ll also be picnicking there – please join us.
African cultures festival – 10 April at Auburn Park, corner of Hutchinson and Macquarie Roads from 11.00am to 4.00pm.
There will be stalls, workshops, community information, music and performances to celebrate African Cultures. Activities for children include face painting, drumming, jumping castles, sports and henna painting.
We had a great time there last year – hope to see you there.
March picnic

For those of you travelling by train from Central. We will be at the entrance of platform 11 @ 10.30 (get your return ticket to Woy Woy first) see you then.
Well people, the final official event of the year is upon us.
To share the love with the coastal tribe we will be having the BBQ @/near Fishermans Wharf Woy Woy.
For those travelling from the city we will be looking to meet and travel by train from central station (will have notification of a meeting point soon)

Working it out
Working it Out: Stories from African-Australian Relationships is a new resource for people in mixed African-Australian relationships based on interviews with fifteen people about their personal experiences. The booklet includes stories, links and suggestions on a range of issues such as parenting, finances, problem solving and cultural difference.
The resource was funded by a grant from University of Western Sydney and produced by AAN Committee members Annie Stopford, Jill Sergeant and Cornel Robinson. A limited number of print copies are available or you can download it here. Working it Out was launched at the AAN fundraising dinner on Friday 27 November.
