Our Picnics
AAN has regular picnics alternating between parks around Sydney and occasionally on the Central Coast. The aim of the picnics is for mixed Australian African families and couples to meet each other and hang out together. AAN Committee members will attend so it’s also a chance for you to talk to us about what you think AAN should be doing. If it rains, we meet at a cafe instead.

The next picnic is on:

Date:
Saturday 21 January
Time:
1:00pm – 5:00pm
Location:
Sydney Park, Princes Highway St Peters.

For more information call Suzanne on: 0401 869 106.

Other events
We have a dinner party about every three months, usually at an African Restaurant.

We also usually have an end of year party – keep an eye out for the dates.

How to find out what’s on

Get involved
We’d love to hear your suggestions for other things AAN could do. If you have ideas for events, can suggest a good restaurant, or would like to help organise AAN activities, email admin@australianafricannetwork.org.au.

2009
In 2009 AAN alternated picnics between Merrylands and Dulwich Hill, and had an end of year party at the CEntral Coast. We also went out to dinner together several times and went clubbing afterwards on one of those occasions at the Africa night at Taylor’s on Central.

2008
In 2007 AAN had a number of family picnics both at Merryands and at Dulwich Hill. We also had an end of year dance party and family BBQ in Lakemba, thanks to the generous sponsorship of Canterbury Council.

2007
In 2007 AAN had a number of family picnics both at Merryands Central park and at Johnson Park. We also had a private end of year party for members and guests.

2006
Australian Network had three events in 2006. We kicked off with a seminar in March, then finished the year with a picnic at Bicenntenial Park in November, and a party in December. We also ran a playgroup in Westmead for six months.

The seminar was attended by about 30 people, and featured speakers from African Community organisations as well as AAN. Speakers spoke both from personal and broader community perspectives. Watch this space for downloads.
